Program Information

This introductory course will prepare you to enter ECE credentialing courses at community colleges, and introduce you to immediate employment opportunities as a classroom aid.
 
Topics Covered:
  • Historical Overview of the ECE Field
  • The evolution of professional practices and ethics 
  • Educational principals that support child development; birth through the school-age years
  • Teaching practices based on observation, documentation, and interpretation of children’s behavior.

ESL for Education Careers

Learning English?  This companion course is designed for you!  This class is recommended to support students who are learning/improving their English skills in writing, grammar and vocabulary so that they can be successful in the Education work environment, and includes specific skills needed for Early Childhood Education job opportunities. High School Equivalency

State Licensure of Paraeducators requires candidates to have the following:
  • High school diploma or the equivalent, and
  • Two years of college (48 units), or
  • A. A. degree (or higher), or
  • Pass a local assessment of knowledge and skills in assisting in instruction.
This class prepares candidates for the GED.
