Is the Test Required for Employment?

Under the Every Student Succeeds Act, public schools may only hire licensed individuals for Paraprofessional/Paraeducator positions.

To qualify for Licensure, candidates must have a High school diploma or equivalent (GED)

AND

Two years of college (48 Units)

A.A. Degree (or higher)

Pass a local assessment of knowledge and skills in assisting instruction

I Need to take the test. What’s on it?

Reading--70 Minutes Long

Math--90 Minutes Long. (Calculator available in the online testing module.)

EGUSD has recently approved a new assessment to determine High School level knowledge of Reading and Math. This assessment is proctored at EGACE weekly on Friday afternoons. Preparation Classes and study guides are available, but not required prior to testing. Testing is now FREE.
