Program Information
Paraeducator Training Certificate
With the movement towards more inclusive classrooms, paraeducators provide day-to-day support for students with special needs. Paraeducators play a valuable role in meeting student’s needs.
Topics covered:
- The Roles and Responsibilities of Paraeducators
- Introduction to Early Childhood Education
- Mandated Reporter
- Working with English Language Learners
- Behavior Intervention & Classroom Management
- Disability Categories & Making Modifications
- Paraeducator Testing Requirements
Winter/Spring 2024
Fall Dates TBD (12 weeks)
Tuesdays/Thursdays 5:30-8:30pm (In-person)
In person- Tuesday & Thursday — 5:30-8:30 pm
English Language Development and Work Skills for Paraeducators
This course allows English language learners an opportunity to focus
on vocabulary development, reading, writing and communication skills that a Paraeducator will use in the field. This class is coordinated with the material used in the Paraeducator Training class to accelerate understanding for English language learners.
This 15-week course is 2 hours of in-person instruction and 1 hour of distance learning per week.

Recommended Pre-Requisites:
- CASAS Score Level 5 or 6
- Basic Computer Skills
- High School Diploma or Equivalency
EGACE offfers ESL, Computer Basics and High School Diploma/Equivalency classes at our Gerber Road Site.
